About the Mayor's Design Awards
The Mayor’s Design Awards are to be relaunched this year to celebrate architectural excellence and craftsmanship in west Norfolk 25 years since the borough council first introduced the event.
Nominations are being sought now. Any project completed, including the landscaping of the site, between 1 April 2022 and 30 March 2025 can be entered for an award being organised by the borough council in partnership with KL Magazine.
The Mayor of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, Cllr Paul Bland, is keen to relaunch the awards in his Mayoral year:
“These awards have been running for a quarter of a century. We have reconsulted with agents to rejuvenate the awards for 2025 following the unfortunate cancellation of the event earlier this year."
The Mayors Design Awards are intended to recognise the efforts made by architects, designers, contractors and their clients involved in small scale schemes, to improve the standard of design and construction within the Borough of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk.
The Mayor is interested in recognising work which has especially improved and enhanced a site and its surroundings and shows outstanding, remarkable or innovative design and craftsmanship.
The schemes could include new single houses or small residential groups, extensions, conversions or refurbishment work, shop fronts, landscaping and enhancement work.
This could be for either residential, commercial, agricultural or amenity buildings and could also be a listed building or within a Conservation Area. Anyone can nominate a scheme with the agreement of the owner.
An application form needs be completed and photographs showing before and after the works should also be submitted.
The closing date for applications is 18 April 2025.
The Judging Panel will then select a shortlist of schemes and site visits will be carried out by the Panel. An award ceremony will then be held later in the year where the awards will be presented to the winners.
