About dog control
The Public Spaces Protection Order (Control of Dogs) 2024 places controls on dog fouling, requiring dogs to be on leads, or banning dogs in certain parts of the borough.

Where dogs are banned
Dogs are banned in the following areas:

Where dogs must be kept on a lead
Dogs must be kept on a lead in the following areas:
- Hunstanton - Promenade from the Power Boat Ramp TF667400 to northern extremity of the Promenade TF671414 (between 1 April and 31 October inclusive)
Penalties for offenders
If someone fails to comply with the requirements of the order we can:
- issue a £80 fixed penalty notice (single offence)
- prosecute the offender, which can result in a fine up to £1000

Previous order (2021-2024)
Our previous Public Space Protection Order (Control of Dogs) 2021 was in place from 2021 until 1 December 2024.
The order places the following controls on dogs in certain parts of the borough:
- Requires dog owners to pick up after their dog has fouled public places.
- Excludes dogs from entering all children’s play areas.
- Excludes dogs from access to the beach in Hunstanton from 10 April until 31 October. Dogs must also be kept on leads along a section of the promenade in Hunstanton during the same months.
