Recycling A to Z - Fluorescent tubes

Record details

Item
Fluorescent tubes
Waste type
Hazardous waste
More information

Fluorescent tubes can now be LEDs, which are housed in polycarbonate tubes, and use less electricity. But the light fitting's ballast will need to be amended.

However, if you're disposing of your fluorescent tubes, they're hazardous waste and should not go in your kerbside waste collection bins.

You can take them to be recycled separately at the Heacham, King’s Lynn, or Docking household waste recycling centres.
