Lighting up the Corn Exchange

Make a request to light up the Corn Exchange in various colours to raise awareness for your cause

Raise awareness for your organisation

We receive numerous requests from charities and organisations to light up the Corn Exchange in certain colours to recognise and raise awareness of many important campaigns.

The King’s Lynn Corn Exchange is the only building we own that is currently able to be illuminated with decorative lights in different colours.

Requests will we accept

We unfortunately can't allow all requests to light up the Corn Exchange. Examples of acceptable requests might include:

  • state events
  • government approved awareness raising initiatives
  • international recognition days/events
  • recognition of registered charitable causes
  • certain local, community initiatives or not-for-profit events, provided they are not of a political nature

Key points to consider

There are a number of points to consider before making your request:

  • Light ups are considered on an individual basis at our total discretion.
  • We do not accept any light up requests between 1 April and 31 August due to the lighter summer months, or in December as the Corn Exchange is lit up in the festive Pantomime colours. The lights are turned off overnight.
  • You cannot make a recurring light up request, so if it is an annual event you can request it each year but no earlier than a year in advance.
  • There is no charge to make a request, or for the lighting up itself.
  • The maximum period for any light-up is one evening. Where a request is approved, the council endeavours to light up on the requested date, however this will not always be possible for a range of reasons, including potentially two light-ups clashing.
  • Agreeing to light up does not constitute a commitment to taking photos or promoting this on our channels, so organisations are encouraged to undertake their own publicity.
