Felling licences

Find out about felling licence legislation and how to apply for a felling licence

Why a licence is required

To help protect Britain’s trees and woodland, a felling licence from the Forestry Commission is required to fell many trees, sometimes even if you already have Tree Preservation Order consent. It is an offence to fell some trees without a licence if an exemption does not apply.
