Location of our cemeteries and their opening times
Cemeteries
We own and maintain five cemeteries in West Norfolk. We're unable to assist with enquiries relating to other cemeteries and churchyards in Norfolk that we're not responsible for.

All our cemeteries can be freely accessed by pedestrians and motorised scooters during the published opening hours.
Our Gayton Road Cemetery requires an electronic key to open the barrier for authorised ‘accessible’ vehicles. Please bring your blue badge or letter from your doctor outlining mobility issues into the Public Enquiry Office at Mintlyn Crematorium, Lynn Road, King’s Lynn PE32 IHB. Here a key will be issued once you've paid a non-refundable deposit.
We aim to make our cemeteries safe, tranquil places where people can remember their loved ones. Signs at the entrance of each cemetery outline to visitors our cemetery rules. These include:
- keeping dogs on a short lead and clearing up after them if they foul in the cemetery
- ensuring all litter is disposed of in the blue bins provided
- being considerate and respectful when visiting the cemetery
- not playing any game or sport, or creating a nuisance
Please observe these rules when visiting our cemeteries.
Burial times
Burial times can take place in our cemeteries during the following times:
- 2 March - 31 October - Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:00am and 3:30pm.
- 1 November - 1 March - Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:00am and 2:30pm.
In the Walpole St Andrew and Marshland St James cemeteries we do not arrange for the grave digging. This is arranged by the Funeral Director or the person arranging the burial if no Funeral Director is used. In this case we can give permission for a graveside service to take place up to 3.30pm all year, providing:
- the Grave Digger is on the register of Grave Diggers (The Register) held by us, and
- the Grave Digger has provided a Risk Assessment and Method Statement approved by us
Burials are not normally permitted Saturday, Sunday or Public Holidays.
Arrangements can be made for Muslim burials.
