Renew your driver licence

How to renew your taxi driver licence

When to renew

We'll remind you when it's time to renew your licence, but it's your responsibility to apply to renew it.

You can renew your taxi driver licence within 30 days of the expiry date.

If you try to apply before, we won't be able to process your application, and you'll need to re-submit this within the 30 day time frame.

Before you renew

Before we can renew your taxi driver licence, we need to see an in-date Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. If your DBS check needs renewing, please contact us to make an appointment. Please allow at least six weeks for the DBS check to arrive.

Please also read our licensing conditions to make sure you meet the requirements of our renewal application.

Renew your licence

You can renew your taxi driver licence online through registering for our My Account service.

You'll be able to view personalised information, including your renewal date and the details we hold for your licence.

Registering for an account is easy and will allow you to securely access our services 24/7.

To renew your taxi driver licence you'll need:

  • a full UK DVLA driving licence (or EU equivalent)
  • a completed DVLA mandate form
  • a DBS check (unless this is still within date)
  • a medical form completed by your doctor and stamped with their surgery stamp (unless this is still within date)
  • a credit or debit card for the fee (a one year licence is £67, a three year licence is £118)
  • the letter we sent you about your renewal (you'll need the reference number at the top)

Renew your driver licence

Once you've completed our renewal, you'll need to bring in your supporting documents or post them to us.

What happens next?

If your renewal is successful, we'll send you a new drivers badge. You'll receive this in the post.
