About the event
World Tai Chi Day is on Saturday 27 April and to celebrate it there will be a mass come-and-try Tai Chi event on the Green in the morning. This will be everybody’s chance to have a go at the activity in a relaxed, enjoyable environment to see what they make of it. All are welcome from complete novices to those who have participated before. Let’s see the Green as full as possible with everyone doing Tai Chi!
Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art known for its slow, intentional movements and is popular as a gentle form of exercise and moving meditation with benefits to mental and physical health. Qi Gong is a simple form of Tai Chi harnessing the power of breathing and movement. The simple, easy to learn exercises are believed to help optimise energy in the body.
The morning is organised by ABC Tai Chi and offers a fun introduction to Tai Chi and Qi Gong:
- 10am to 11am: Gentle standing Tai Chi and Qi Gong
- 11am to 12pm: Limited mobility session including seated Tai Chi
If attending the limited mobility session then you may bring your own chair or use the ones provided. Meet by the bandstand. The sessions are free of charge but donations to the RNLI are welcome.
Come and join a global health and wellbeing event for World Tai Chi Day!
