Anyone who might be thinking about volunteering but is unsure who to help or what is involved can find out more at an event coming up this Thursday (14 July).
The Volunteering Marketplace event at LynnSport will be hosting more than 30 charity organisations for an informal get-together where potential volunteers can find out what opportunities are available and the help that organisations need.
Councillor Sam Sandell, the borough council’s cabinet member for people and communities, said: “As a council we support volunteering because it’s good for everyone – and that’s official! It can help you meet new people and you will make a difference in your community. You can learn new skills and many people find it boosts their employability.
“It is also good for your mental health because helping other people makes us feel good.
“This event is an informal way of allowing you to find out more about how to volunteer in west Norfolk. You can meet organisations who need volunteers and find out what opportunities they have.
“People are often surprised how easy it is – in many cases you don’t need to make a regular or long-term commitment. You don’t have to sign up for anything, there’s no commitment to volunteer just because you come to our event.
“If you’re not sure, come along and meet some of our fantastic charity organisations. You will be amazed to find out just how much they achieve and how easy it can be to help!”
The event is being hosted by Community Action Norfolk in conjunction with the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk. It takes place from 2pm-6pm on Thursday 14th July at LynnSport, Greenpark Avenue, King's Lynn, PE30 2NB.
