NOTICE OF ELECTIONS Docking and West Walton

On 10 August voters in Docking and West Walton will go to the polls to vote in the parish council by-elections if it is contested.

Anyone not already registered to vote must do so by midnight on Tuesday 25 July 2023 if they wish to cast a vote in one of these elections.

Polling station details are below.
Docking Parish Election:
Dr. W.E. Ripper Memorial Hall, High Street, Docking, Norfolk PE31 8NG
Bircham Social Club, Church Ln, Great Bircham, King's Lynn PE31 6XS 

West Walton Parish Election:
West Walton Village Hall, Mill Road, West Walton, PE14 7EU

If no valid nominations are received, the elections will be re-run at a later date. If not enough valid nominations are received, nominees will be automatically co-opted onto the council.

Anyone who is unable to vote in person can check if they are eligible for a postal or proxy vote by contacting Electoral Services on 01553 616773.

Residents planning to vote at the polling station will require photographic ID. Accepted forms of ID include a UK, European Economic Area (EEA) or Commonwealth passport; a UK or EEA drivers’ licence; and some concessionary travel passes, such as an older person’s bus pass. Voters will be able to use expired ID if they are still recognisable from the photo.

Anyone who does not have one of the accepted forms of ID is able to apply for free ID online at voter-authority-certificate.service.gov.uk/ or by completing a paper form by 5pm on 2 August 2023.

The deadline for applications to vote by post is 5pm on Wednesday 26 July 2023 (for new postal voting arrangements and amendments to existing arrangements, including postal proxies). This is also the deadline for amendments to existing arrangements to vote by proxy.

The deadline for new applications to vote by proxy is 5pm on Wednesday 2 August 2023.

The deadline for emergency proxy vote applications (if the emergency arose after 5pm on Wednesday 30 November) is 5pm on Thursday 10 August 2023.

If an election is held, votes will be counted on Friday 11 August 2023 at the borough council offices, King’s Court, Chapel Street, King’s Lynn, PE30 1EX.
