This weekend sees a mega weekend of free musical entertainment provided on the Green in Hunstanton by the borough council. The town will be rocking to the sounds of some great music.
On Saturday 16 September the finals of the West Norfolk Battle of the Bands competition will take place, in collaboration with Radio West Norfolk. Designed to showcase up and coming talent together with some of the best bands in local music, the event will see 6 finalists battling it out for the top prize - a place on stage at next year’s Festival Too.
Wicca, a goth rock quintet, will kick off proceedings at 12.30 and they will be followed by indie punk band, Das Kapitans. The Gliders, a young 5-piece rock band from Springwood High School, are up next followed by Kissed By Vultures, a three piece indie rock band. Jazzsigns, next up, will bring a fusion of jazz and blues to the occasion and Dead Horse, a hard rock and metal band will complete the afternoon’s entertainment.
Each band has 30 minutes on stage to impress the judges. The winner is expected to be announced at about 5.00pm.
‘Chill Out Sunday’ on 17 September will be a concert afternoon with three bands performing for the public. The running order is:
- 12.30 Vex
- 2.30 Bear Club
- 4.30 The Chebbs
All bands are long-established, high-quality bands, very experienced at providing upbeat music to entertain all tastes.
“This is a fabulous weekend of musical entertainment in Hunstanton,”
Said Cllr Simon Ring, Cabinet member for Tourism, Events and Marketing:
“We hope people will bring their chairs and blankets on both days and establish their place on the Green. Bands on Saturday will need everybody’s encouragement and support so come and cheer them along. Sunday will be great entertainment so come and sing and dance to your heart’s content or just listen and soak up the sounds!
“The borough council wishes to thank Festival Too for their cooperation with our Battle of the Bands competition. A place on the stage at Festival Too is a dream for any local artist. We wish all bands an enjoyable time and may the best one win.”
