Residents of Watlington will being able to have their say about the proposed Neighbourhood Plan for their area on 7 December.
Voters will be asked to say yes or no to the following question: ‘Do you want the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Watlington to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?’
Development of the Watlington Neighbourhood Plan, led by the parish council, has gone through a rigorous process. After being submitted to the borough council it has undergone an independent examination. Earlier this year, the independent examiner passed it to proceed to referendum.
The referendum is the final stage of the plan-making process, which will allow the Neighbourhood Plan to be adopted, if supported by a majority (more than 50%) of voters in the referendum.
Voting in the referendum will take place at Jubilee Hall, Church Road, Watlington, PE33 0HE on 7 December between 7.00am and 10.00pm.
Counting will take place on Friday, 8 December, and the result of the referendum is expected to be announced soon after noon.
All adults aged 18 or over on 21 November, and who are registered to vote will be eligible to vote in the referendum. Voters should remember that they need to present photo ID.
