Have your say on plans to improve air quality

Action of Air Quality. Have your say.

Published: Tuesday, 9th January 2024

Residents are being asked to review the council's draft air quality action plan, which sets out 16 actions aimed at improving air quality in King's Lynn Town Centre and the Gaywood Clock area.

Cllr Michael de Whalley, Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Biodiversity, said:

"Air quality is something that impacts us all and we should all have an interest in taking steps to improve it. We have assessed several options and have presented these in a draft air quality action plan.

“The recent peer challenge of the borough council identified that we should engage and consult with residents in how we deliver services. This is an excellent example of how residents can give their feedback and tell us if they think any other measures should be included."

The draft air quality action plan can be found on the borough council's website at west-norfolk.gov.uk/aqap-consultation, along with an online survey for completion.

Alternatively, there will be a series of drop in sessions where people can speak to the Environmental Health team, see the plan, and then complete a survey.

The drop in sessions are as follows:

  • 5 February 2024 – Gaywood Library, River Lane, 4pm to 6pm
  • 12 February 2024 – King’s Lynn Library, London Road, 4pm to 6pm

The consultation is open until 1 March 2024. Once all the comments have been received, these will be considered and the air quality action plan will be finalised. The action plan will then need to be approved by DEFRA before being adopted by the council.
