New trees were planted in The Walks and Tower Gardens in King’s Lynn by volunteers from the Gaywood Valley Conservation Group with borough council workers on Monday 4 March.
Cllr Michael de Whalley, Cabinet member for Climate Change and Biodiversity who is also Chair of the Gaywood Valley Conservation Group, said:
“I’m pleased to see over 20 volunteers from our conservation group worked with the borough council public open space team to plant these trees. 12 new trees have been planted, a mixture of lime, London plane and Cherry trees.”
Cllr Bal Anota, Cabinet member for Property and Corporate Services, added:
“The Walks and Tower Gardens are two immensely popular parks that our residents enjoy visiting and I hope these new additions can be enjoyed for many years to come.”
John Hayes, Secretary of the Gaywood Valley Conservation Group who helped plant the trees and also cleared some foliage, said:
“The Walks is an asset to the town and an asset for wildlife. I think many of the trees in here were planted at the same time and will gradually die off, periodic replanting is by far the best thing to do.”
