Kate Blakemore has been confirmed as the new Chief Executive of the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk.

The confirmation of the appointment of the new Chief Executive was made at the full council meeting on 17th June and comes after a two day recruitment process in May which identified Kate as the recommended candidate.

Kate, who will take up her role on 17th September, is currently Strategic Director of Corporate Services with East Suffolk Council.

With a background in Environmental Health, Kate previously spent over 18 years working for Great Yarmouth Borough Council, progressing to the role of Strategic Director with responsibility for regeneration, environment, and housing.

Kate has strong links to West Norfolk. She was born in King’s Lynn and spent her early years in Dersingham, and has family still living in the area.

Kate said: “I’m really excited by the opportunity to support the community of west Norfolk by doing more of the good work that is already being delivered by the council.

“I’m inspired and impressed by the work and improvements that are taking place, the clear strategic plan for the area, and the potential that is set to be realised for west Norfolk, such as through investment and partnerships.

“Working in the public sector is, for me, all about making a difference to the public and to the place, and I am looking forward to working with council colleagues and partners for the benefit of west Norfolk.”
