Runners who raced to Beat the Tide in 5k and 10k runs along Hunstanton beach in June have helped raise money for the Hunstanton RNLI.
Cllr Bal Anota, Cabinet member for Events and Open Spaces at the borough council, who presented a cheque for £750 to representatives from the local RNLI said:
“I’m pleased that a borough council organised event can support a local team providing life-saving support along our coast. A pleasant day out at the beach can turn volatile very quickly.
“I never knew that everybody here was a volunteer - they're such a brilliant team.”
Jeff Lenton, one of the Launch Authorities, gave Bal and Roger Partridge, Hunstanton Events Manager, a tour of the Ops Room at Hunstanton lifeboat station before they headed down to the beach where volunteer crew were recovering the station’s lifeboat, called the Spirit of West Norfolk, and hovercraft, named Hunstanton Flyer, after both craft launched for training.
Mr Lenton said:
“It's great that councillor Anota and Roger have come along to present the proceeds from the run today, for which we're very grateful.
“Some of the crew took part in Beat The Tide, so it was a real joint effort.”

The station operates both an Atlantic 85 fast inshore lifeboat, Spirit of West Norfolk and the search and rescue hovercraft Hunstanton Flyer.
Like more than 200 stations around the coast of the UK and Ireland, its lifesaving work would not be possible without the kindness of those who donate or remember the RNLI in their wills.
