A local rock and covers band were celebrating last Saturday having won the second annual Battle of the Bands competition in Hunstanton. There was more live music beside the seaside on Sunday too.

Dead Horse, a four-piece band from King’s Lynn, have won a set on the stage of next year’s 40th Festival Too by taking the Battle of the Bands crown in Hunstanton last Saturday.

Cllr Bal Anota, Cabinet Member for Events and Open Space, said:

“The sun shone and many people came and sat on the Green in Hunstanton to watch four bands perform and compete for the title of West Norfolk Battle of the Bands 2024 winners. It was a tough competition with some very experienced and high-quality artists performing.

“I’d like to thank the Festival Too committee for once again agreeing to the incredible prize of performing on their stage in King’s Lynn next year.

“Battle Saturday was followed by Rockin’ Sunday where three more high quality bands performed on our stage on the Green. The whole weekend was enjoyed by many. I thank our events, resorts and public open space teams for making it such a success.”

There’s more family entertainment in town this weekend, Strange Fascination Theatre return to perform Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Lost World. Suitable for families and children will love it. Join Professor Challenger, reporter Ed Malone, brave adventurer Lady Jane Hoxton and rival Professor Summerbee on a journey to a forgotten land, full of danger, adventure, fascinating creatures and dinosaurs.

The show starts at 2:30pm at St Edmunds Church Ruins, Cliff Parade, by the Old Lighthouse. It’s recommended that you arrive in good time to get your space.

There are activities for the whole family to enjoy in Hunstanton through the summer holiday. Find out what’s happened and when at west-norfolk.gov.uk/hunstantonevents.
