Remembrance Sunday to be marked in West Norfolk

War Memorial in Tower Gardens following the Act of Remembrance on Remembrance Sunday 2023

The annual wreath-laying ceremony will take place to mark Remembrance Sunday in King’s Lynn on Sunday 10 November 2024.

Cllr Paul Bland, Mayor of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, will lead the act of remembrance which will take place at the war memorial in Tower Gardens in King’s Lynn at 11am. All members of the public are welcome to attend.

Ceremonial processions will take place from the Saturday Market Place to Tower Gardens.

The mayor will be part of the of the civic representatives as they arrive at the war memorial where he, along with representatives from various organisations, will lay a wreath. A bugler will play The Last Post, signalling the beginning of the two-minute silence and the start of the ceremony at 11am.

The King's Lynn remembrance will, once again, be streamed live on borough council social media channels for members of the public who are unable to attend in person.

Following the wreath laying and ceremony members of the public and representatives from all organisations attending the event are warmly encouraged by the mayor to join his civic procession back to the Minster where a service will be conducted by the Reverend Canon Dr Mark Dimond.

West Norfolk Remembers

Other Remembrance Services taking place on Sunday 10 November in the borough include:

Deputy Mayor of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, Cllr Andy Bullen, will be attending the St. Faith’s Church, Gaywood. Service starts at 10:15am in the garden at the Church, followed by a short procession to Gaywood Clock, short service there followed by a two minute silence at 11am.

Current Mayor of Hunstanton, Cllr Michael Ruston, will be joined by Cllr Paul Beal, in Esplanade Gardens at the Hunstanton War Memorial Remembrance at 10:30am.

A Remembrance Parade, starting at Downham Market Town Hall will start at 2pm, ending with a service held at the War Memorial. Mayor of King's Lynn & West Norfolk, Cllr Paul Bland, will represent the borough at this event.
